We have two effective ways to access Koh Tao from Bangkok by airplane. Solar Air in partnership with Lomprayah has started once a day to fly between Don Muang (the old international airport at Bangkok) & Chumpon.

A short flight duration of just one hour, and with their own shuttle minibus operating between Chumpon airport & the Lomprayah pier for Koh Tao have created an extremely time efficient and comfortable journey of around five hours door to door.

Bangkok Airways is the other way to access Koh Tao by airplane; they operate more than 20 flights daily from Bangkok to Samui leaving a ferry ride of approximately two hours to then reach Koh Tao. If you pick a flight time which makes for a good connection with transfer the ferry it is possible to complete the journey in just four hours, however the cost of flying with Bangkok Airways through Samui is approximately 30% higher than the Solar Air route therefore at this time we are recommending Solar Air.
