We currently have two well established & reliable operators servicing the Bangkok to Koh Tao route, namely Lomprayah & Songserm.

Most would agree that Songserm, being the cheaper option is best suited for the backpacker or traveler on a lower budget. The VIP coaches used by both companies are similar double deck buses; the big difference however between these two companies is the ferries that they use.

The Songserm ferries are older than and not as comfortable as the Lomprayah Catamarans.

The Lomprayah Catamarans also have very nice and quiet V.I.P areas upstairs; if you pay a little extra to upgrade there, you can really relax and enjoy the journey.

The journey time from Chumpon to Koh Tao is just 2 hours with lomprayah, the Songserm ferry takes around 4 hours.

Bangkok to Koh Tao
Lomprayah run twice daily, departing from their office just behind the Khao Sarn Road at 6am arriving 3pm & 9pm arriving 9am to Koh Tao.

Songserm run once daily leaving Khao Sarn Road at 6pm arriving the following morning at 10am.

Koh Tao to Bangkok
Lomprayah run twice daily departing from their pier at Mae Haad at 10:15am arriving 8pm and 2:45pm arriving midnight the same day.

Songserm run once a day departing 2:30pm arriving 5:30am the next morning.
