Everything about The Gallery screams class and indulgence. Newly renovated in 2020, its contemporary modern design and stunning mountain location provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The Gallery prides itself on authentic Thai cuisine and excellent wines, and its ability to provide a unique culinary experience with flavours and delicacies that are difficult to find on the usual tourist trail.

The Gallery is a tranquil and peaceful restaurant with an enviable location providing unspoiled views out over the ocean. It is Owned and run by long-term expat, Chris Clark & his wife Bu who is Thai. The décor includes stunning images taken on Koh Tao and all around Thailand. The restaurant is adjacent to The Gold Bar, which houses an array of fine wines and spirits, and sometimes hosts live music events.

Food

As one of Koh Tao’s top restaurants for gourmet food, the menu at The Gallery offers a taste sensation. There is a range of dishes you won’t find anywhere else on the island. All dishes are made fresh to order by the experienced chef team. They are happy to accommodate varying spice tolerance levels on request. Taking this a step further, the ‘Trust the Chef’ option allows you to try many different dishes at your table. Simply give a brief description of what you’d like to try and what your spice preferences are, and trust the chef to do the rest!

The regular menu has some familiar Thai items such as sweet and sour fish, crispy pork, and chicken cashew nut, but The Gallery’s signature dishes are a bit more ‘off the beaten track’ as culinary experiences go. For example, the Hor Mok Maprao On, a traditional steamed seafood curry served in a fresh coconut, with distinctive flavours of galangal, kaffir leaves, and basil. There is also an array of fresh fish dishes and an incredibly tempting dessert menu.

Drinks

The Gallery is well-stocked with local beers and spirits. There is also a good selection of cocktails, including the aptly named Siamese Sling and Panoramic Martini.  Good quality wines are available either by the glass or by the bottle.
