Maya Beach Club
Location: Maya Beach Club is located on Sairee Beach, just south of Leo Bar.
Opening Hours: 12 Mid-Day – 9pm
Maya Beach Club is Koh Tao’s premier daytime beach lounge, and has a firm following of locals as well as being popular with tourists. With a prime spot right on south Sairee Beach, the bar is spacious and mostly open-air. There are some wooden tables and benches inside the bar area, but most customers prefer to relax on the large and comfortable wicker sun loungers on the beach. There is no charge for using the sun loungers at Maya Beach Club, but you will be expected to buy drinks or some food from the bar. If you are looking for a bit of respite for the sun, there are a couple of pagoda style seating areas with cushions at either end of the bar, which offer an unspoiled view out over the ocean.
Drinks are served throughout the day, and it is possible to order food from the grill most days too. Failing that, you can ask at the bar and they will organise an order from Idjangs Kitchen for you. Drinks available include local and foreign bottled beers, Tiger draught beer, spirits, cocktails, shots, and soft drinks. Reduced happy hour pricing is applied to local beers, selected spirits, and cocktails every day between 4pm – 7pm.
Music is played at Maya Beach Club throughout the day but is not too heavy, and often in the evenings you will hear live DJ sets playing funky soul mixes. Maya is a great place to hang out and meet people, and its western-facing position makes it one of the most popular bars on the island for sunset sessions. Often there will be a game of frisbee on the go, and there is a free pool table inside.
Maya Beach Club is the main rental location for Stand Up Paddleboards, so if you’d like to have go, just ask one of the staff. Paddleboards are available for rental by the hour, half day, or full day, and all sessions come with a full introduction, a safety briefing, and a short lesson.
