Accommodation in Chalok

Accommodation in Chalok is perfect for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and hang out in a quieter environment. Located at the southern end of the island, the village of Chalok Baan Kao oozes the chill factor, yet still provides plenty in the way of facilities and amenities to guarantee an enjoyable stay.

Making a base out of your accommodation in Chalok is a great idea if you want to get out and go exploring on Koh Tao, as the village is in close proximity to many of Koh Tao’s best beaches, and there are also a couple of popular viewpoints and viewpoint bars nearby. Along the long stretch of golden sand that comprises Chalok Bay itself, there are a few dive centres and café’s, while on the main road you’ll find most of the village’s most popular eateries.

To explore more of Koh Tao on foot will take some effort from Chalok, so scooter rental is recommended. There’s a beautiful coastline hike that will take you from Chalok to Mae Haad in about an hour, from where you can carry on to Sairee Village in a further half hour or so. However, this is perhaps not a round trip to be making by foot on a daily basis, especially in peak heat season.

Eating Options in Chalok: P Oys, Ying Yang, Tukta.

Bars in Chalok: While we haven’t specifically featured any Chalok-based bars in our food and drinks sections, there are several places to get refreshments and sundowners. So never fear, there will always be somewhere to grab that sunset beer or refreshing fresh coconut by the beach!

Accommodation in Chalok

One of the best things about accommodation in Chalok is the quality and standards available for very reasonable prices. From beachside boutique rooms to hilltop views and hostels with a luxury vibe, we’ve cased out the best options to help you get the best bang for your buck:

Fisherman Koh Tao

Newly refurbished in 2019, Fisherman is a cute boutique resort with a relaxed bohemian feel. The décor is all ocean themed, and many of the more artistic pieces have been made from recycled and upcycled materials. Their beachfront infinity pool and decking area are picture-perfect, and the on-site café and bar make it easy to chill with a cocktail in hand while soaking up the sun.

Dearly Hostel

Flashpacking accommodation in Chalok for those who want a sleepy vibe but like their home comforts too! The Dearly combines backpacker accommodation with luxury facilities like a swimming pool, garden patio, and rooftop terrace, and as an extra bonus, it’s also a very environmentally friendly business. The owners pride themselves on running in an energy-efficient way, and are self-sufficient for fresh water and electricity, having been one of the first properties on Koh Tao to install solar panels.

Koh Tao Resort

Koh Tao Resort offers the best of both worlds with a Beach Zone at the eastern end of the beach and a Paradise Zone located just up the hill looking out over the bay. Guests staying at either location can use the facilities in both zones, meaning access to beachfront sands, and a choice of either beachside or hilltop infinity pool with fantastic panoramic views.
