West Coast Viewpoint
West Coast Viewpoint, as the name suggests, offers stunning panoramic views of the entire west coast of Koh Tao and to the north, you can see Koh NangYuan and beyond. If you visit in the morning you’ll probably be able to make out a few dive boats on the horizon at Chumphon Pinnacle, which is about 12 kilometres off Koh Tao. Right ahead of you is Sairee Beach and further south you can see Mae Haad Bay and Jansom Bay. It is a fantastic vantage point but is less visited than many of the other Koh Tao Viewpoints, so it is a great option for those who want to get away from the crowds and gaze at the horizon in peace.
Access
There are a few different ways to access West Coast Viewpoint, and the best one for you will ultimately depend on if you’d prefer to walk or drive.
If you are driving, it’s possible to drive from Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar by following the dirt track alongside the reservoir then cut through the interior of the island to Two View Viewpoint Bar, where you can park and walk the rest of the way. From the bar, just walk a few minutes up the hill, then duck through the gap in between two large boulders on the left to gain access to the rock.
It is possible to hike to West Coast Viewpoint on foot from either north or south Sairee. From the south it’s the same route as with Two View Viewpoint Bar, turning off the main road at Monsoon gym and heading uphill. From the north, you need to follow the Hin Wong Bay road and take a right up the side of Tarna Align resort. You’ll climb a steep concrete road, and if you take the first right turn, it’s about a 20-minute hike uphill from there to reach the West Coast Viewpoint.
Fees
There are no fees to access West Coast Viewpoint if you hike from north Sairee. However you may be charged an access fee by the landowners at Two View Viewpoint Bar if you come from either south Sairee or over from Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar.
Services & Facilities
Unless you take a route that passes by Two View Viewpoint Bar or Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Bar, you’ll need to take plenty of water and any snacks you want with you, as there are no other shops or services along the way.
Sunrise or Sunset?
